A New Beginning

Unique opened its doors for the first time in April 2000, with Dave Hughes and Dave Needham, two industry professionals with extensive experience of the contract catering world, deciding that there was a niche for a different kind of company.

They had both been working for the ‘big boys’ for some considerable time, and freely admit that the large caterers have many good points. However, Messieurs Hughes and Needham wanted to put the emphasis well and truly on to the quality of the food – it’s a passion at Unique, and one that is at the heart of the company’s forward-looking philosophy.

Unique has grown in less than five years, from a standing start to become one of the fastest growing and most in demand independent caterers in the country.

Indeed the company has consistently grown it's turnover, reaching £7 million in 2004.This has been drawn from a broad customer base, including the commercial, retail, industrial and government markets, with Unique serving companies and organisations throughout the UK.These now include group and multi-site contracts too, with Unique continually looking to expand the range of services it offers, whilst setting new industry standards for quality and value.
